Pura Vida!

God Loves Costa Rica and so do I. Costa Rica is one of the most fun places I have ever visited. I have never met such a friendly people, seen a more gorgeous landscape, and swam in such a warm ocean. It is these three reasons and the fact that it is summer year round that make me determined that God loves Costa Rica.

Below: This is Raphaela, the German girl I fell in love with, and I swimming before we went snorkeling. Unfortunately it was short lived love. I never saw her again after that afternoon.

Below: Yes that is a Monkey!

Below: The crew: Eric, Scott, Neil, and Nate.

The trip had it's fair share of problems: One lost bag, my camera got pummeled by a wave the first night, and an adventure with a rip tide. Other than that it was a raging success.

The food was fantastic. Seafood galore with lots of rice and beans. I ate fish or shrimp every single day. The fruit was definitely a glorious addition to the trip pineapple, mangos, papaya, and fresh squeezed orange juice.

I body surfed everyday of the trip. Which to me is the equivalent of a hug from heaven when the warm Costa Rican waters crash around my body. We also rented surf boards for nine dollars a day.

Before traveling we had no plans beside our airline tickets and the rental car we reserved. We found places to stay as we went. The places we stayed were great and averaged about $12 dollars a night per person. We saw tons of great country and met some wonderful people. I can't wait for my next trip to Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Eric,

Sounds like fun! Glad you had a good time. I'm surprised you did not try some fishing.

Too bad you only got to swim with her one time.

It definitely sounds like it was a great trip, though. And the monkey picture is pretty cool.

Eric,

I married my wife in Costa Rica about 15 years ago. We did the same thing, renting a car and traveling. We discovered one of the most unbelievable places in the world while we were there. The name was Herradura (Horse shoe bay in english), a fishing village with grass huts and friendly people. The locals took us in, took us fishing, cooked for us, and shared their guaro. That palce is now known as Los Suenos Resort and a Marriot hotel stands on the spot where sunset was celebrated from a grass cabana. I am glad I saw it before the Marriot. Costa Rica is still one of the greatest places on Earth as you have discovered!
